Problems

  1. Differentiating between various plant species can be difficult, leading to incorrect care.

  2. Identifying issues like pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies is often complex.

  3. Understanding specific needs related to light, water, and nutrients varies by plant and environmental conditions.

Understanding the Core Challenges

Understanding the Core Challenges

Breakdown of the Problem

Breakdown of the Problem

1

Difficulty Identifying Plants

Users frequently struggle to distinguish between similar plant species, leading to misidentification and improper care routines. Beginners, in particular, find it overwhelming to determine specific needs for each plant, often resulting in mistakes like overwatering or inadequate lighting.

2

Health Diagnosis Complexity

Many users miss early signs of plant health issues, such as yellowing leaves or drooping stems, only recognizing problems when it’s too late to prevent damage. This gap in accessible, timely diagnosis leads to preventable plant decline and frustration, especially for those eager to learn.

3

Lack of Personalized Care Guidance

General plant care advice online is often too broad to be useful for specific plant needs. Users noted that different plants require tailored care based on their unique environments, making it challenging for beginners to confidently follow generalized tips.

4

Isolated Gardening Experience

Indoor gardeners often feel isolated without a community to share their plant journey. Users expressed a strong desire for a platform where they could connect, share tips, and receive encouragement, making plant care a more engaging and fulfilling experience.

What challenges do you face in understanding what your plants need on a day-to-day basis?

"I love my plants, but sometimes I just can’t tell what they need. I end up guessing, and that usually doesn’t work out so well.”

Narrative Scenario

Emily, a 29-year-old architect living in London, has always cherished her cozy apartment as a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Recently, she's been on a mission to enhance her living space by introducing indoor plants to create a green and inviting atmosphere. However, her busy schedule and lack of expertise in plant care have posed significant challenges.
Despite her best efforts, Emily struggles to keep her indoor plants thriving. The limited natural light in her city apartment, along with fluctuating temperatures and dampness, has made it difficult to find the right plants for her environment. She's constantly worried about the health of her beloved Peace Lily, unsure if she's providing it with the proper care it needs to flourish.
Seeking solutions to enhance air quality and foster a healthier home environment, she craves tailored plant-care guidance and reminders, particularly with winter approaching. She yearns for a community of plant enthusiasts to exchange insights and tips. With guidance and support, Emily hopes to cultivate a thriving indoor garden, transforming her home into a serene sanctuary where she can unwind amidst nature's embrace after a long day's work.
